A modern adaptation of William Castles gimmick from the movie, "The Tingler".
Percepto! is an application developed to try and bring the haptic gimmick from William Castles movie The Tingler (1959). The Tingler had a hidden feature where specific chairs within a movie theater were rigged with buzzers. During a scene in the movie a monster is let loose and patrons were encouraged to scream for their lives, especially if they felt the attack of the monster (buzzers on rigged chairs). With the movie being over 50 years old, this gimmick is not able to be reproduced efficiently in the modern era; this is where the Percepto! app comes in. By allowing users to create lobbies that other users can join, we are able to bring back the gimmick, Percepto!, in the pockets of any brave movie-goer.
